Meet The Community Ministry Team
Lindsey Richardson
Executive Director
After years in the classroom, the heart behind the work never changes- loving people well and helping them become who they were created to be. Teaching was about showing up, listening closely and believing in potential even before it was fully visible. Nonprofit work became a natural next step, offering the opportunity to care for people beyond the classroom and walk alongside individuals, families and our community in a deeper way. This work is rooted in relationships, compassion, service and a belief that lasting change happens when people are seen, valued and supported. It is a great honor to lead an amazing team at Community Ministry.
Tami Slipher
Development Director
My heart is to serve others. Over the last two decades of non-profit ministry, church ministry and business ventures, I have thrived on building relationships and driving organizational impact. I love to connect with others, hear their stories, and to live out the mission. What has drawn me to Community Ministry is that it strives to meet the needs of the community with a holistic approach. Each person is seen, known, valued and supported. For nearly 60 years, Community Ministry has been a safe place for needs to be met, relationships to be built, for volunteers to give back, love with dignity to be shown. I am a firm believer that our communities thrive when we are in relationship with each other, serving each other and supporting each other.
Alexa Escalante
Food Pantry Manager
I love serving others in their time of need. My goal is to be a social worker and Community Ministry is a start for my career. I am exposed to people of diverse backgrounds and needs here, and I can see the impact I am making every day in their lives.
Justin Brannan
Facilities Manager
I grew up in a household that taught me to care about other people and do good. After volunteering at Community Ministry, a need arose for my skills in facilities management. Being a part of Community Ministry is a great opportunity to expand and improve my skills and have an impact on the lives of people in need.
Nancy Rojas
Resource Navigator
I love to help people in my community. Working at Community Ministry gives me the opportunity to connect with people and help them find the resources they need in a timely way.
Juan Villegas Flores
Food Pantry Warehouse Assistant
I started volunteering at Community Ministry as a part of work therapy, developing my strengths to work with people. When I first arrived at Community Ministry, I had a feeling of being known; the people here cared. We work well as a team and can serve the community. We serve a great bunch of people, and I am grateful for that.
Joyce Neufeld
Community Liaison
Service and organization are the words that describe my professional, volunteer and personal life. As the Community Liaison for Community Ministry I enjoy expanding services through collaborating with other agencies, administration and fundraising.
Our Directors
Terri Murphy
Chairperson
As a National Honor Society sponsor, I began working with Community Ministry by running canned food drives and providing student volunteers. I found it to be an amazing organization with low overhead and one that assists people not only with food but in a variety of ways. Upon retirement, I am thankful for the opportunity to continue efforts to assist this worthy organization.
Cheryl Kirksey
Vice Chairperson
I can see an ever increasing need in our community for people to receive extra help with food, housing, and electricity due to the changing economic conditions. I’m very grateful for the blessings in my family life and in my career as a Denver Public School Teacher. I really want to be able to share with others who need help.
Greg Hart
Board Secretary
I got involved with the Community Ministry because I live in the neighborhood and kept running past the building. One day I finally walked in, asked if they needed help, and realized immediately there was real work to do and real people to support. I started volunteering on the grocery-rescue side and eventually joined the Board, where I now serve as Secretary.
What keeps me committed is simple. I’m fortunate in my own life, and I think we all have a responsibility to look out for the people in our own community. Access to food is the most basic form of dignity. Being part of an organization that removes that barrier for families in our area feels meaningful and concrete, and I’m grateful to contribute.
Donya Powell
Board Treasurer
I have served Community Ministry in some form, whether that be through volunteering at the food bank, summer vacation Bible schools, or as a board member, for the last fifteen years. I have recently returned to serve as Board Treasurer. The mission of CM is one of great importance, and I serve because I see the dedication of so many who continue to work tirelessly to provide for the Southwest Denver community and its needs. To watch those who have been served by CM, and in turn become volunteers to pay it forward, is incredibly rewarding and why I just can’t say “no” to being a part of this amazing organization.
Erica Augustine
Board Member
What better way to serve my community than through an organization that is located right down the street, whose mission is to help the people in my neighborhood and beyond in their time of need? I’m honored to be able to lend my time, talent, and treasure to help Community Ministry reach more, serve more, and love more.
Donna Repp
Board Member
I spent three years as the president of my neighborhood organization and saw first-hand some of the challenges facing the southwest Denver community. In my day job, I find myself connecting people to resources so serving in this capacity feels like a good fit. My neighborhood is very important to me, and I am delighted to give back in a way that is meaningful and helpful to the community.
Debbie Gomez
Board Member
I have always been driven by a desire to serve others. I first learned about Community Ministry through our church when we were invited to participate in Footsteps for Food many years ago. Over time, my involvement with the organization gradually increased. When I retired, I knew I wanted to give back to my community in a meaningful way. As God guided my path, I was invited to attend a board meeting shortly after my retirement, which opened my eyes to additional opportunities to serve. I began volunteering one day a week and was later invited to join the board. Through this experience, I have gained valuable insights and had the privilege of working alongside many dedicated and inspiring individuals.
Susan Penner
Board Member
I have always had a desire to serve in a more meaningful way, and retirement has given me a greater opportunity to do so. As a food bank volunteer for the past year, I have had a chance to better understand the needs of the neighborhoods served by Community Ministry and appreciate those who work so tirelessly to meet those needs. I hope my background in business, project management and teaching along with my deep belief in the fundamental need for each of us to be well fed, cared for and prepared for learning, will be an asset to the Board. There is so much that we can do together.
